Berry

Berry was rescued at four months old from a municipal pound in Romania.

When she entered rescue, it was evident that her tail had been cut off. The circumstances are not known, but the injury was clearly not cosmetic in nature and was most likely the result of deliberate human-inflicted trauma.

Without rescue, Berry would not find a home in Romania and  most likely have remained in the municipal pound where dogs are euthanised after a period of time.

Berry was brought to the UK to enter foster care, where she quickly captured the hearts of everyone she met. It was not long before she was adopted by a young couple in Hertfordshire.

Today, Berry is thriving in her new home. She enjoys life with her devoted family and her canine companion, receiving the love, security, and care that every dog deserves.

Berry's case highlights one of the unintended consequences of the legislation. Her tail injury was not the result of cosmetic docking but was inflicted by a human. Without a targeted exemption for registered rescue organisations, dogs like Berry, whose injuries were inflicted through cruelty, would be denied the opportunity of rescue and a permanent home.
