Rescue Back Up details registered on microchips can be removed by authorised external users like alternate rescuers, without informing the original rescue organisation. By signing the petition, we are asking the Government to amend Microchipping Of Cats and Dogs Regulations to ban the removal of Rescue Back Up details and other important welfare information registered on microchips, create a permanent audit trail, and automatically notify registered rescue organisations of an

Laika and Orla
Both 11 years old, Laika and Orla are ex-hunting dogs from Spain. They were abandoned when they were no longer of any use to their hunters. Both have docked tails as a result of their previous working lives. Under the Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Act 2025, these two dogs would be banned from entering the UK because they are considered "mutilated". Yet if they had been born in the UK and worked in the same role, their tails could have been legally docked u

Truffles
Truffles is a young Lagotto Romagnolo, an Italian Water Dog and was most likely used for truffle hunting in Bulgaria. Truffles was found tied to a tree in a remote forest. Fortunately, she was discovered alive and taken into rescue. Lagotto Romagnolos are internationally recognised as specialist truffle-hunting dogs however, they are not included within the UK's limited list of breeds for which working dog tail docking is permitted. As a result, under the current legislation,

Berry
Berry was rescued at four months old from a municipal pound in Romania. When she entered rescue, it was evident that her tail had been cut off. The circumstances are not known, but the injury was clearly not cosmetic in nature and was most likely the result of deliberate human-inflicted trauma. Without rescue, Berry would not find a home in Romania and most likely have remained in the municipal pound where dogs are euthanised after a period of time. Berry enjoying a visit to

Blossom was involved in a serious accident with a tractor which meant she severely damaged her rear legs. A double amputation was the only option. After rehabilitation in Turkey, Blossom travelled to foster in Wales. After Blossom's story was promoted on "Martin and Romans Weekend Best" on ITV, her lovely adopter, Mary made contact and the rest is history! Without an exemp

Marmalade
Marmalade just after being rescued. Marmalade is a Breton, a small European gundog breed. Marmalade was found roaming in a small rural village, desperately searching for food and trying to survive on his own. While roaming in the village, Marmalade was attacked by a group of local dogs and lost the tip of his nose as a result. There is little demand for working breeds in Spain so after waiting awhile, Marmalade travelled to a foster in the UK. As Breton's are rare in the UK,

Clara
Clara, a Breton (a small European gundog breed), from southern Spain, was the victim of severe abuse. She was removed from her hunter by the Guardia Civil after years of abuse. Clara had lost an eye—the hunter would not explain how it happened—and she had numerous other injuries. Thankfully, her physical wounds have healed, although the scars remain.
