Marmalade

Marmalade is a Breton, a small European gundog breed. Marmalade was found roaming in a small rural village, desperately searching for food and trying to survive on his own.

While roaming in the village, Marmalade was attacked by a group of local dogs and lost the tip of his nose as a result.

There is little demand for working breeds in Spain so after waiting awhile, Marmalade travelled to a foster in the UK.

As Breton's are rare in the UK, it was not long before a couple applied to adopt as they had recently lost their older Breton and were looking for another.

Today, Marmalade lives a super life on the Sussex coast with his older Spaniel brother and a wonderful couple.

Without an exemption in the Secondary Legislation, rescue dogs like Marmalade—whose injuries are the result of accident and misfortune rather than cosmetic mutilation—will be refused entry to the UK. That would deny many dogs the opportunity to find the loving homes they deserve.

We believe the law should focus on those responsible for abuse and illegal mutilations, not the innocent dogs who have already suffered and are simply in need of a second chance.
